Phoenix Metro Area
All Phoenix Destinations
For such a large metropolitan area, Phoenix isn't exactly a shopping Mecca, however with some recent additions to the mix of places to shop in Phoenix; the city and metro area is doing its best to catch up. One of those additions to the Phoenix shopping line-up is Scottsdale Quarter in north Scottsdale which offers a small but fantastic selection of stores and a good variety of restaurants for the hip Scottsdale crowd. Scottsdale is also home to one of the top malls in the country, the Scottsdale Fashion Square. Need we say more? If you're not familiar with the Scottsdale Fashion Square, chances are you've never been through the Phoenix area. Just click on the link below to view the fabulous selection of stores worthy of collecting your Scottsdale shopping dollars, including Nordstrom, Barney's New York, and Neiman Marcus. Scottsdale is also home to Kierland Commons (directly across from the Scottsdale Quarter), which offers a very nice selection of upscale shops and restaurants in an open-air environment. If you have teens in your family or prefer the big box retailers, check out Desert Ridge, located just a couple miles west of Scottsdale off the 101.
Not to be outdone is the Chandler Fashion Center, or affectionately known as The Chandler Mall. This is a huge indoor mall with a great mix of stores including the only other Nordstrom in Arizona. This mall is popular among the Chandler shopping crowd and can get very busy on weekends.
If you're a fan of Arizona State University (ASU) and find yourself in Tempe, you might enjoy checking out some of the boutiques along the popular Mill Avenue. Or if you're looking for a great deal, you might just find it at one of the largest indoor outlet-style malls in the country - Arizona Mills. Also in Tempe is Tempe Marketplace, an outdoor Tempe shopping destination with some big box retailers, one of-a-kind boutiques, and some good restaurants. Adding to the trend of open-air malls is Gilbert's SanTan Village Mall. This relatively new mall offers a great selection of stores and restaurants worthy of a visit should you ever happen to find yourself near the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport looking for a great place to go shopping. On the other side of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area map is the city of Glendale, where you'll find a great neighborhood mall known as the Arrowhead Towne Center, complete with the standard array of mall stores.
If you find yourself in downtown Phoenix looking for the typical big city shopping districts to explore, you will be disappointed, as there are none. The closest shopping area to downtown Phoenix is the Biltmore Fashion Park, near the famous Arizona Biltmore hotel located in the 24th St. and Camelback area. This is a very upscale Phoenix shopping destination with the type of retailers you might expect to find along Rodeo Drive.
