San Antonio Metro Area
All San Antonio Destinations
Downtown San Antonio has a few neighborhoods where you'll find a small smattering of boutiques, galleries and restaurants worthy of exploring, but the most famous and most popular San Antonio shopping destination among tourists is the Rivercenter Mall which runs along the famous River Walk and features a nice selection of popular store brands (including Macy's) along with a great selection of restaurants. For a more upscale taste of San Antonio shopping, head over to the North Star Mall near the San Antonio International Airport. The mall is home to a huge selection of more than 200 stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue. Just look for the world's largest pair of cowboy boots and you'll know you're in the right place.
San Antonio has also jumped onboard the open-air mall trend that has swept the country, and we couldn't be happier. If you prefer to shop among trees and blue sky, head over to the Shops at La Cantera, northwest of downtown San Antonio, the Alamo Quarry, northeast in the Alamo Heights area, or to Huebner Oaks, located northwest of downtown. All 3 malls offer a nice selection of popular brands typically found in this type of mall environment.
Rounding out the San Antonio shopping experience are 3 of your basic neighborhood malls with the typical neighborhood mall lineup of stores. These malls are the Ingram Park Mall, the Rolling Oaks Mall, and the South Park Mall. If your shopping needs stem more from the big box retailer type of shopping destination, head over to The Rim, just north of San Antonio, where you'll find popular retailers like Best Buy, Cost Plus, Bass Pro Shops, Michael's, Old Navy, Nordstrom Rack, etc.
Outlet Mall aficionados will need to head north toward Austin about 50 miles to get their fix at the San Marcos Premium Outlets or the Tanger Outlet Mall.
