All San Diego Destinations
San Diego is truly one of the County's most lively and often visited cities, and for good reason...it is beautiful. If you are visiting this wonderful city and the airline happens to lose your luggage, don't worry because San Diego has a nice selection of prime shopping malls and destinations where you can replenish your lost wardrobe, and then some.
Begin your San Diego shopping adventure with a visit to Downtown's historic Gaslamp Quarter. This is a fun place to stroll and people watch as you browse the lineup of independent boutiques mixed in with a few national brands. But what makes this area really fun is the great selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs where you can party the night away while your lost luggage is making its way to parts unknown. Gaslamp visitors and San Diego residents alike can also seek refuge at the Westfield Horton Plaza, where fashionistas can go to get their Nordstrom fix.
When you think of Little Italy, you might be envisioning New York or San Francisco, but did you know that you could get a little taste of Italy in San Diego? With a smattering of boutiques, home decor stores, and an abundance of restaurants, this section of San Diego is worth a visit.
Outside of the San Diego Downtown area is a selection of must-visit malls worthy of an additional credit card or two. Perhaps the most upscale is the Fashion Valley Mall on Friar Road, with Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, and a great selection of mid to upscale brands that you'll want to write home about. Also included in this top shopping category are the Westfield UTC Mall and the Westfield North County Mall. The UTC Mall is located in the La Jolla Village area and the North County Mall is in Escondido. Both have a Nordstrom and a great selection of stores. Just be sure to thank Westfield for these San Diego shopping delights when you get home.
What's a trip to San Diego without enjoying the great outdoors? A visit to Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista or Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar will accomplish this task. Both are open-air malls with a nice selection of all your open-air mall store favorites. Traditional neighborhood malls in San Diego include the Westfield Plaza Camino Real, in Carlsbad, the Mission Valley Mall, north of the city, the Westfield Parkway Mall in El Cajon, and the Westfield Plaza Bonita in National City.
Any trip to San Diego would not be complete without checking out Seaport Village (Downtown), Bazaar del Mundo Shops and restaurants (Old Town), and Girard Avenue in La Jolla.
For Outlet Mall aficionados, the San Diego area won't disappoint. You can find all the deals you need at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets in Carlsbad, the Las Americas Premium Outlets (south close to the border), and the Viejas Outlet Center in Alpine. For fun, sea, and shopping, it doesn't get any better than San Diego!
