Color is in, especially it if has to do with your hair. We have done the research and have found that blue, and various shades from royal to denim are the new hot color to highlight and accent hair. To get creative on a budget, we put together a fun way to get some color without the commitment. Popular Magazines such as Modern Salon have been featuring dozens of hair color trends on their social media sites and we are seeing purple highlights, coral, blue, and the craze over “hair chalking.”
So we at Style Cabana have joined the craze and added some color without the commitment. Ponytails are fashionable, easy, and seen everywhere- so giving your hair a pop of color, volume and height is the perfect combination.
To start out, curl the entire head with a one-inch iron. Do not separate the pieces as they will naturally separate with further styling. Next we picked our favorite The Sassy Collection Hair Extensions found at Sally Beauty Stores, curling contrasting colors of dark brown, sunny blonde, and royal blue.
Picking up the hair at the top of the head, we then placed the hair extensions just underneath the crown, working our way down in a brick pattern, using the single wefts of hair color- keeping the blue on top, and then alternating the brown and blonde extensions. Be sure to touch-up any curls and then gather hair and gently lift into a less than perfect high ponytail and then secure with a thin hair tie.
After the ponytail has been set, take an underneath piece of hair and wrap it around the thin hair tie for a finished look. We followed the texture trend, braiding and twisting the underneath piece of hair before securing it with a bobby pin. Again, touch-up any loose curls, and you are on your way!
The Sassy Collection Hair Extensions found at Sally Beauty Stores come in 25 gram bundles, so you can customize the amount of color you want to add in. Other colors include purple, red, and hot pink.
