Chloe
Chloe is an especially remarkable label in that it has somehow managed to remain youthful, original and incredibly chic – despite being an older brand by American standards. Founded in France in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, Chloe has launched the careers of some of the most famous fashion designers known today, including Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney. In fact, that is most likely what has helped to keep the brand so incredibly relevant today – the constant musical chairs of the hottest young talent the fashion world has to offer.
When Chloe was introduced onto the market, what set it apart was the fact that it was considered to be Ready-to-Wear fashion. This was fashion that looked as if it were haute couture – made of high quality fabrics that were made to accentuate and flatter the body – that was also affordable. Ms. Aghion recognized that there was a large gap in the market between high-end fashion and the ordinary fashions of the day, and felt that she could fill it with her designs.
Young starlets Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst are included in Chloe’s list of clientele. Less famous – but equally fashionable – shoppers can find Chloe apparel, handbags, shoes and fragrances at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.
