Dolce&Gabanna
Dolce&Gabbana is a company founded on designs of monotone colors such as black and white, sexy geometric shapes, corset dresses and sleek pantsuits. Started in the early 80s in Milan, the label is comprised of two main lines: Dolce&Gabanna and D&G. The first of the two (which is spelled purposely with no spaces) focuses on luxury, timeless pieces and is often seen on the red carpet. D&G, on the other hand, is a more casual line that caters to the younger generations. Where Dolce&Gabanna tends to move forward, seemingly unconcerned with the fleeting changes that come with the seasons, D&G prefers to lead the pack and be the force behind changing the trends.
But Dolce & Gabbana did not create their billion dollar business on just great fabrics and beautiful designs. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana pride themselves on being accessible and friendly; Gabbana commutes to work on his Vespa, while Dolce opts to walk on foot. In an age where name-dropping has become so common, Dolce & Gabbana are above selling out. And though they admit to having at least a celebrity or two’s number on speed dial, both men realize that the key to maintaining creative control is to remain in complete control of the company they love.
And this passion and love for their product is incredibly apparent in their product. The Dolce&Gabbana lines can be found at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s.
