The Elizabeth and James label is designed by celebrities-turned-fashion-designers Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. It is not difficult to imagine what the line might look like, just based on the very well documented fashion of the Olsen twins. Billed as a “modern lifestyle brand”, the line features an eclectic mix of both masculine and feminine cuts, unique fabrics (pleather, anyone?) and both uptown and downtown flair. This is the third label founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley. The first was sold in Wal-Mart stores and catered to the young girl and tween market. As the girls grew, so did their target market and from this maturity came the fashion line The Row, an incredibly high-end line sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Barney’s.
Born out of the desire to dress people who might not have the expendable income required of The Row customers, Elizabeth and James is a line that will definitely appeal more to some crowds than others.
