Originally began as more of a shoe company, Kenneth returned to New York in the early 1980s after a stint in Europe with a whole lot of beautiful shoes – and no money with which to set up a shop to peddle them. It was clear that Kenneth Cole’s creativity did not stop at designing shoes; he filed for a film permit and managed to park a borrowed truck in the middle of New York City under the guise of creating a movie. In two days, Kenneth had sold about 40,000 pairs of shoes and cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with.
The Kenneth Cole name includes three lines: Kenneth Cole New York, Kenneth Cole Reaction and Unlisted Kenneth Cole. The various Kenneth Cole lines can be found at Macy*s and Nordstrom, or at one of the many stand-alone outlet stores nationwide.
