Neiman Marcus is a high-end specialty retail department store headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Neiman Marcus offers men’s and women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories, as well as upscale home furnishings, linens and decorative accessories. The store also offers a wedding registry fit for a future king and queen – allowing future brides to register from their broad range of gifts, including traditional, contemporary, and one-of-a-kind items.
But one does not need to get married in order to enjoy the exhilaration of receiving a gift from NM – Neiman Marcus is nothing short of notorious for its annual Christmas catalog, “The Christmas Book”. This catalog features extraordinary “presents” such as limited-edition BMWs, custom suits of armor, adult tree-houses and backyard water parks starting at $100,000. It is reported at one point that this catalog was the most stolen item directly out of the mail. As such, the company took to shipping it in simple brown bags that made it less identifiable to the general public – which made it less likely to be stolen and added to the thrill of receiving it in the mail!
