Born in San Diego, California, Rebecca’s first love was the art of design and began sewing at the age of 8. Although Rebecca’s handbags have been a hit among the stars and women all around the world, she began designing clothing at the age of 18. She launched her clothing line in 2001, but it wasn’t until her good friend and actress Jenna Elfman asked her to design a handbag for her next movie that the ‘Morning After’ bag was born. After dedicating five years to designing handbags, Rebecca Minkoff recently made her way back into apparel, which debuted in March of 2009.

The focus of the Rebecca Minkoff Apparel Collection is sexy yet edgy, with a flair for the extravagant. Inspired by fashions from the 1950’s updated to incorporate modern influences, the apparel draws elements from Rebecca’s successful handbag line, such as leather detailing and the use of two-tone color combinations. The line focuses on a group of chic separates including a variety of jacket styles, skirts, tops, pants and dresses. The palette consists of neutral colors such as charcoal and cream, mixed with pops of jewel tones such as rich plum and persimmon. Materials range from luxurious silks and metallic twills to high-end double knit jersey and washed leather.

Rebecca Minkoff’s collections has been spotted on the likes of such celebrities as Blake Lively, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Debra Messing to name a few. Rebecca Minkoff has made its way in to such stores as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel and Shopbop.com. She is also carried in over 200 boutiques across the country including Japan, France, Russia and Canada.

This 28 year old designer has made her mark in the New York fashion scene as a notable designer and we can expect much more to come from the Rebecca Minkoff brand.
