Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney is an English fashion designer and also the daughter of Paul McCartney, former Beatles superstar. Drawing from this rock-and-roll background and exposure to celebrities at a young age, Stella designs her clothes with herself and friends in mind. Her styles are known for their sharp lines, feminine cuts and overall sexiness – it is not unusual to see a thin, flowing top paired with a pair of extremely tailored, high-waisted pants or a pastel silk dress adorned with an exposed industrial zipper. And the friends Stella designs for aren’t just your run of the mill friends – she outfits celebrities such as Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Campbell. In fact, it was Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell who modeled Stella’s creations at her 1995 design school graduation, an obvious honor and feather in the cap of the newly arrived designer.
It is fair to say that Stella is not skating by on her rocker father’s reputation. Stella’s collections have continuously shined, one after another, since the original launch of the label in 2001. The brand is comprised of luxury ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, fragrances, accessories and an organic skincare regiment. A strict vegetarian, her designs are always free of fur and leather – including her shoes, which are made with a synthetic plant-based leather substitute. The Stella McCartney brand is available through the Stella McCartney stores and in over 600 luxury stores worldwide.
