Valentino

Valentino is elegance and glamour. Ready to launch himself as a distinguished designer, Valentino Garavani wished to design collections that celebrated and emphasized a woman’s body. It was this desire and aspiration that lead to the success of his first collection and every collection thereafter. Recognized by the fashion industry as a man of discernable talent, Valentino was awarded the Neiman Marcus Award in 1967 and the Calvaliere di Gran Croce in 1986, the highest award possible in Italy.

Known for his often flamboyant style (which includes his seemingly permanent tan, gargantuan yacht and gorgeous French chateau,) Valentino is as sophisticated and stylish as the clothing he designs. In his forty years he has created some of the classiest evening styles, this time seeming to be the instance where his vibrant and lavish dresses seem to shine their best against the dark backdrop of the night.

Following a spectacular three-day celebration in Rome, Valentino announced that he would be retiring in early 2008, after the unveiling of his last couture collection. This preceded the release of the documentary, “Valentino: The Last Emperor”, a look at the designer’s remarkable 45-year-long career.

Valentino can be found in a variety of prestigious stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue and has been popular among the rich and famous for over four decades. Some of these stars have included Elizabeth Taylor, Halle Berry, Jennifer Gardner and Jackie Onassis.
