Who is Zac Posen? A relatively new designer, Zac Posen launched his label when he was only 21. (An amazing feat when one considers the fact that he can already list Gwyneth Paltrow, Lucy Liu, Natalie Portman and Naomi Campbell as clients.) He designs his clothing with a heavy emphasis on glamour, accessibility and energy – while still maintaining an air of elegance and sophistication.

Since its beginning in 2002, Posen’s label has garnered quite a lot of respect from the fashion industry. From its sleek forties-inspired tailoring to the fabulous cocktail dresses that seem to defy what is expected, the Zac Posen brand continues to generate major buzz among young social crowds and celebrities alike. It seems that Zac possesses an understanding of how to make the female shape look both thin and curvaceous with cuts that both slim and accentuate – a feat that some even more experienced designers battle with in their collections. Beyonce and Katherine Heigl are both fans of Posen’s designs, both being spotted on several occasions with the signature fishtail hemline that he has made extremely popular in his short time on the red carpet.

In 2004, rap mogul and businessman Sean Combs invested in the Zac Posen label, adding an extra level of edge to the brand. Clothing can be found at high-end retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdale’s. Most recently, Zac Posen for Target was released in early 2010. This line features more affordable pieces such as convertible dresses, gowns and leather jackets and can be found at Target stores nationwide.
